The pilea peperomioides is the cute little kid on the block. Also known as the Chinese money plant, due to its coin shaped leaves, the pilea is any gardener's delight to grow. The Pilea peperomioides is a popular houseplant thanks to its attractive coin-shaped foliage and ease of care. This flowering perennial in the nettle family (Urticaceae) is native to southern China, growing naturally along the base of the Himalayan mountains. It is equally comfortable running the show alone as it is in being part of a bigger cluster.
Each of its lily pad like leaves float on dainty looking stems that will bob around independently in a gentle breeze. Towards the upper part of every single leaf will be a white, or lighter shade of green, dot where the stem meets the leaf and holds it in place.
