Buddha's Belly Bamboo, or Bambusa Ventricosa, is one of the most popular ornamental bamboos for collectors. It is most well-known for its unique tendency to have bulging culms, or bellies, that are directly influenced by the plant's water stress. However, it is also renowned for its ability to adapt to any number of growing conditions.
This bamboo makes a great privacy screen, as well as a good hedge when pruned regularly. A tough plant, Buddha belly bamboo is much colder tolerant than many other Bambusa species, as well as being rather a drought tolerant once established in the ground. This is a good bamboo for someone who doesn’t want to have to pamper a plant.

During the growth period of Buddha belly bamboo, there needs to be sufficient direct sunlight.
Watering should be in an optimum amount for the plant's healthy growth. In summer it requires lots of water and during winter season reduce watering.
Fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil.

Apply all-purpose fertilizer monthly during the growing season. -
