The Prickly pear is a succulent plant native to Mexico which, being easy to cultivate. The whole plant is covered by a series of thorns long about a half inch long, and by shorter thorns called glochids which, being provided with small hooks, are easily implanted in the skin and are very difficult to extract. The roots are very superficial and reach a maximum length of 13 inches underground, covering, however, a vast surface.
It is grown as an ornamental plant and for its juicy fruits. Prickly pear cactus is undemanding and easy to grow. It grows about 1-2.5 m high. The flowers are very showy, colors ranging from white, yellow, to orange, depending more on the variety.

Bright Indirect light.Water once a week or when the soil starts to become slightly dry at the top. Keep the soil lightly moist at all times, but do not overwater.The soil should be well drained and fertile, rich in organic content for growing plant.15 – 25 °CApply succulent fertilizers once in a month.
