Strelitzia Nicolai, commonly known as the giant white bird of paradise or wild banana, is a species of banana-like plants with erect woody stems reaching a height of 6 m and the clumps formed can spread as far as 3.5 m.
This structural evergreen is primarily grown for its handsome (banana-like) foliage, but given time and the right conditions it may occasionally produce a blue and white flowerhead too! In its native environment, this plant can grow to a great height but when confined to a pot and kept as an indoor plant, it will be a much more modest, but no less decorative specimen.
- Natural indirect / artificial bright light is ideal for Strelitzia Nicolai plant growth.Poke your finger/plain small stick into the soil to check the moisture. Apply 1 cup (Approx. 50 ml) water when the top soil (1-2 inch) in pot feels dry to touch. Do not overwater the plant.Soil should be well drain and fertile, rich in organic content.18 - 25°CDuring the growing season water regularly and apply a balanced liquid fertilizer each month.
