Thuja is a small genus belonging to the group of conifers and to the family of Cupressaceae. It is native to North America and Asia. They are evergreen conifers with a pyramidal shape and flat branches that reach 10 meters in height. The foliage is dense and consists of small, medium green, scale-shaped leaves.
There are numerous cultivars of other colors. They produce decorative bluish, rounded fruits with small hooks. Dense foliage makes a great informal hedge row or privacy screen. Perfect for hedges or narrow spaces. Beautiful grouped or massed in a shrub border.
- Orientalis grows in full sun and semi-shade exposures.Water frequently so that the substrate always remains moist. They do not resist drought.It prefers organically rich, moderately moist, and well-drained soil.15 – 30 °CIt needs regular fertilization to grow fast. Apply all-purpose fertilizer.
